About WANGuide.org
Built by Engineers. Funded by Architecture, Not Quotas.
Who We Are
We are network architects, systems engineers, and sysadmins. We’re the people you find debating BGP convergence times on Reddit, sharing war stories on X (Twitter), and troubleshooting VLAN mismatches at 3 AM.
After years of seeing colleagues struggle to navigate the SD-WAN and SASE market—often getting burned by slick marketing decks that didn't match technical reality—we decided to build the resource we wish we had.
WANGuide.org is a passion project. It is a community-driven effort to bring transparency, technical depth, and honest comparison to the enterprise networking space.
Our Philosophy: Engineering First
We believe the best network decisions are made based on packets, protocols, and architectural fit.
- No Pay-to-Play: Vendors cannot pay to be listed or ranked higher on our guides. As a matter of fact, you won't find a single vendor recommendation or advertisement at all on our site.
- Open Access: Our tools, templates, and frameworks are open and free.
- No Sales Fluff: We speak in terms of latency, jitter, and throughput.
How We Keep the Lights On (Full Transparency)
Creating deep-dive technical content and building tools like our Price Estimator takes time and server resources. To sustain this community effort, we use a transparent referral model.
We maintain relationships with over 20 major SD-WAN and SASE providers in the US market. If you choose to use our "Talk to an Architect" service or request a quote through our tools, and you ultimately decide to move forward with one of those providers, we may receive a small referral fee.
Here is our promise:
- You pay the same (or less). Our relationships often allow us to secure engineering-tier pricing that isn't available to the general public.
- We are beholden to none. Since we partner with almost everyone, we don't care which vendor you choose—only that you choose the one that actually fits your architecture. If a $500/month solution is better for you than a $5,000/month one, we will tell you.
